About Matt

Hi!  I run a part-time small engine & 2-stroke mechanic + bicycle repair shop here in Parker, CO, from my garage/basement.   I am 55 years old and over the course of my life I've gotten to work on a wide variety of both four and two cycle motors plus I've assembled over 15,000 bikes of all types, including my own custom e-bike.  Of everything, I probably like 2-stroke engines the best.  They are relatively simple, and yes finicky, but also the most powerful motors for their size.   However, when they break down, mechanic shops charge an arm and a leg for service, if you can even find one.

When I needed service on my little Homelite chainsaw, I did a little looking around and found that there are not many shops in the area, and the ones I found were so expensive that it made better sense to just go buy a new Home Depot Ryobi saw for my little job.  So that's what I did.  Within a day though, the new saw wouldn't start!  I took it back and exchanged it.  Same thing happened again!  So, I figured I better fix both of the saws myself.

When my neighbor saw me back in action, he asked about what had happened, and after commiserating, he told me that he had a chainsaw and an old 2-cycle edger that weren't running, and he'd pay me to fix them because he couldn't find anyone to work on them.  Then in the winter he had an OLD Craftsman 4-stroke snowblower that he'd inherited, and it wouldn't start.  Before long I had that old beast up and running.  Pretty soon other neighbors were asking if I could fix their equipment too.

Now it turns out that I kind of liked working on these projects, and seeing as how there seems to be a demand, I figured why not start my own little shop.  So here I am.  If you're like me and feel ripped off by repair shops, or you can't find one nearby, but you still need to use your equipment and think it is ridiculous to buy new, or rent when you already own, I CAN HELP.

Just give me a call and we will start by troubleshooting over the phone.  If that doesn't work, bring it in and for $20 (applicable towards engine repairs) I will attempt to diagnose the motor's issue and give you an estimate.   I can do most bike repairs while you wait.  My motor mechanical rate is $60/hr. (around 1/2 of most shops), and $40/hr. for bike repair and assembly.  I will usually guarantee a maximum labor charge, plus I am always up front and honest with part costs, scheduling and any surprises.  Plus, I give you my word that all repairs will be done right the first time, and if I can't do it, I'll tell you that too!
